Drug rehab program for cocaine addiction
Cocaine addiction is one of society's greatest problems today.
Individuals addicted to cocaine will do almost anything to get the
drug. It has penetrated all levels of our society, rich, poor, and
everyone in between. Family members connected to cocaine addicts
live in chaos and confusion. Not understanding the underlying mechanics
of cocaine addiction. At Narconon we do understand cocaine addiction.
The effects of cocaine are immediate, extremely pleasurable, and
brief. Cocaine produce intense but short-lived euphoria and can
make users feel more energetic. Like caffeine, cocaine produces
wakefulness and reduces hunger. Psychological effects include feelings
of well-being and a grandiose sense of power and ability mixed with
anxiety and restlessness. As the drug wears off, these temporary
sensations of mastery are replaced by an intense depression, and
the drug abuser will then "crash", becoming lethargic
and typically sleeping for several days.

|
Cocaine can cause feelings of anxiety and depression, which may
last for weeks. Attempts to stop using the drugs can fail simply
because the resulting depression can be overwhelming, causing the
addict to use more cocaine in an attempt to overcome his depression.

The drug rehabilitation technology developed by Mr. Hubbard has
been able to eradicate the major damage in persons who have been
on cocaine as well as make further addiction unnecessary and unwanted.
This is exact technology which not only gets a person painlessly
off drugs but handles their physical and mental effects and helps
them get back in control of their lives.
Workable solutions have been developed in the Narconon program
that enable a person not only to cease cocaine use, but to reach
and eradicate the root causes which started him or her down that
dark road.
Not all cocaine or crack cases require withdrawal ( a program-
without the use of any drugs substitute- that would enable a person
to make it off cocaine without experiencing withdrawal symptoms),
although in heavy users, it is advised that the withdrawal program
be done. A person coming off cocaine or crack will often sleep for
2-3 days straight and feel extreme depression. Sometimes because
of malnutrition due to drug use, muscles spasms can occur so good
nutrition is necessary.
The Narconon withdrawal program enable a person to make it off
cocaine without experiencing painful withdrawal symptoms.
The person must always give a drug history and be given an examination
by a qualified doctor and receive medical approval to do the Narconon
withdrawal program. 24 hours supervision and care during the withdrawal
program.
When a person use cocaine over a period of time, the body becomes
unable to completly eliminate it all. Cocaine is broken down in
the liver. These metabolites (the substances the body converts the
cocaine into) although removed rapidly from the blood stream, become
trapped in the fatty tissues. The problem that needs to be addressed
is that these cocaine residues remain for years. Tissues in our
bodies that are high in fats are turned over very slowly. When they
are turned over, the stored cocaine metabolites are released into
the blood stream and reactivate the same brain centers as if the
person actually took the cocaine. The former addict now experiences
a drug restimulation (or "flashbacks") and cocaine craving.
This is common in the months after an addict quits and can continue
to occur for years, even decades.
|
|
Craving is an extremely powerful urge and can cause a person to
create all kinds of "reasons" they should using cocaine
again. He is now trapped in an endless cycle of trying to quit,
craving, relapse.
|
 |
|
But, because deposits of cocaine metabolites release back into
the bloodsteam from fatty tissues for years, craving and relapse
remain a cause for concern. Left unhandled, the presence of metabolites
even in microscopic amounts cause the brain to react as if the addict
had again actually taken the drug and can set up craving and relapse
even after years of sobriety.
The New Life Detoxification program which will get him rid of all
the cocaine residuals accumulated in his fat tissues and cells.
That will complete his detoxification .
Drug rehabilitation is a multi-phase, multi-faceted, long term
process. Detoxification is only the first step on the road of addiction
treatment. Physical detoxification alone is not sufficient to change
the patters of a drug addict. Recovery from addiction involves an
extended process . So after the detoxification steps the person
will be re-habilitate. This program is based on the social education
modality. The person is provided with knowledge on how to change
his life and how to live comfortably without cocaine.
During that rehabilitation step the addict will be giving the tools,
with the help of a series of life skills courses, to recognize and
fix situations in his/her life that are not optimum and could bring
him/her back to cocaine use.
The Narconon program, unlike more traditional treatment, deals
with both the physical and mental problems brought about by cocaine
use. It restore the addict, both mentally and physically, to the
person he was before he began using cocaine.
